PYO’s New Music Director to Start in 2024-25 Season
After an extensive national search process, PYO is excited to announce the appointment of Brad Hogarth as our new Music Director, to start in the 2024-25 season! Brad will be the second Music Director in PYO's history, following the retirement of PYO's founding Music Director Mitchell Sardou Klein. Maestro Klein will be ending his 29-year tenure on the podium after PYO's European concert tour this June. Brad will conduct the senior-level PYO, collaborate with Sara Salsbury to develop long-range artistic plans for the whole organization, and serve as an artistic liaison with schools and community educators. He will serve a critical role in moving PYO into the future, while protecting and nurturing the legacy established by PYO's founders, Mrs. Salsbury and Mr. Klein.
Brad brings a rich background in conducting, music education, and trumpet performance to this position. Based in the Bay Area, he is the Associate Professor of Conducting at San Francisco State University, Associate Conductor of the Monterey Symphony, and music director and conductor of the Art Haus Collective—an arts organization known for presenting performances of classical and contemporary works in unique spaces. Brad is also the music director and conductor of the San Francisco Civic Symphony, and is on faculty at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music where he conducts the Conservatory Wind Ensemble. He regularly performs as a trumpeter in orchestras across the Bay Area. You can read more about Brad on his website: https://www.bradhogarth.com
